To represent, in one organization, the various local governments of the Southern Interior area of British Columbia.
The Purposes of the Southern Interior Local Government Association are:
- To represent, in one organization, the various local governments of the Southern Interior area of British Columbia
- To enhance and provide the forum to improve and refine the quality and level of service provided by local government to its citizens
- To support and advance to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) and/or Provincial Ministries on behalf of the membership proposed changes in legislation, regulations or Government policy
- To coordinate communications between Members, other Local Government Associations and various governmental organizations
- To educate and assist Members in the provision of good government for our citizens

SILGA is comprised of ten cities, nine districts, four towns, seven villages, six regional districts and one resort municipality. Our boundaries extend from Lillooet to Revelstoke and from Osoyoos to Clinton and Blue River.
About Us / Our History
The Southern Interior Local Government Association was formed in 1937 under the name Okanagan Mainland Municipal Association. It is now comprised of elected officials from 37 cities, towns, villages, districts and regional districts in South Central British Columbia. Member Municipalities include:
2025 SILGA AGM and Convention
The 2025 SILGA Convention will be held in Merritt from April 29th to May 2nd.
Kamloops will be the host of the 2024 SILGA AGM and Convention.
Convention dates are April 30th to May 3rd.
